My First Meme

meme
I was tagged for my first Meme by T at Dull as Dishwater- and though this reminds me of a slam book from high school- (anyone else have one of those?) I thought, "Why not?" So, here you go:

Here are the rules:
(1) Link to the person that tagged you. (Here's another link for Good Measure: T at Dull as Dishwater)
(2) Post the rules on your blog. (Viola!)
(3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
(4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
(5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

Six Random Quirks....

1. I am an insane list person. When I make lists, I feel better. Things to do, things to buy, places to go... anything. I sometimes even list out prayers & things to think about. (I know, ODD!) Even better if I have a great pen (me, too T!) and some cool paper. I've also taken to making spreadsheets for the bigger lists.

2. I have an intense dislike of all pickles, mustards, and beans (exceptions: jelly & green) Like, so bad that if a pickle or some mustard has touched my food, I can't eat that part. I am not proud of this. It just is what it is.

3. While we're on the subject, I can't like coffee *ducks*- I tried, even in the days of working graveyard shifts at Bob's Big Boy while in college full time and teaching preschool. I would even do 90% hot chocolate and 10% coffee- still yukky. I don't like mocha ice cream either. And even if you tell me you 'can't really taste the coffee'- I can. I do, however, go nuts over a Tall Chai Latte (soy only, please)

4. I have to remind myself all the time that not everything is forever. If you're mad at me, it's probably forever so I have to fix it right away. If I buy a couch, I have to keep it forever so I have to think of if it will fit in the decor I will have for the next 80 years. I have to keep being prodded to think of some things or situations as temporary, cause I am a permanent kind of gal.

5. I obsessively check my email. All day. Several times a day... hmmm...maybe it's time I looked at that. At one point I had to stop wearing a watch for that same reason. I kept checking my watch, then would look up realizing I forgot what time it was. Then look again... ugh!

6. I have a few superpowers: a) I can sleep anywhere, any time, any length of time...quickly b)I can blow up inflateables freakishly fast (pools, decorations, rafts) c) I can whistle louder than you. no, really. much louder, without using my fingers.

that's all for now folks, I feel like I am exposed enough now... so I shall tag Cousin Judi, Jenn from Moments, Jenster, Alana, Mer, and Kim. (which you are absolved of if this annoys you or will make you hate me forever)

now, mock away (I'm ready!)

Next post: MOPS recap- then I think I'm all caught up from my week away from blogging

Today's scripture is courtesy of Jenn too- it fit here so perfectly, I had to copy her!

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
Psalm 139:13-20

I can vouch for these quirks and I love them all! Why? Because God made you that way! Thinking everything is forever means that you are ever considering the eternal consequences to the choices that you make; and People - I have seen that whistle in action! Children freeze. And wait. In frightened anticipation at whether they will once again be assaulted by that incredibly loud sound. (I do too). Still deciding if I will actually play the game or not. :)(my first quirk - no chain letters just for the principle of it. haha)

I agree; your quirks make you who you are, and I loved reading about them. Don't feel so lonely now. :)

Big doesn't like coffee, either, and I'm still married to him. He's the same way--tried it all creamed up and watered down, etc. Just.can't.go.there.

I"m with you on #4,#5, and 6a.

Have an awesome weekend! xxxooogretchen

You need to check out Ta Da Lists. The website is on my blog. You would love it!

I also hate mustard and check my email obsessively.

Thanks for the tag. I have done this meme a couple of times before so I'll have to see if I can come up with some more things about me to share. I'm running out...I'm not that interesting :-)

Happy Saturday!

I might hate you for not loving coffee. But I might love you again for introducing me to the word "ducks". Never knew that meant a mixed coffee drink before. Neat. Nice list.

Regarding your last comment on my driving: " you think that your day is so important that you can keep my from mine????" That is a very good point. Really. I never thought about it like that. I was the victim! What? I'm the selfish one??? LOL. Really, good point.

Now stop obsessively checking your email. That will knock you from 31 days to 30. Slippery slope, don't ya know?

Fun reading about you more! Don't worry...we all have our quirks & that make you the wonderful person I enjoy reading about! I'm with you on the obsession of checking my email. It's constant for me, especially because I have a laptop sitting on my kitchen table! Yikes! I enjoyed this!

Several commonalities: I love a great pen (and write all the time). . . I bought a Moleskin Notebook (the top bound squared journal) to write all of my brilliant ideas on -- whenever I'm not near a computer.

I hate mustard (but like dill pickles and beans!!)

I keep things forever (Pack Rat is my middle name)

I can fall asleep anywhere!!

AND...I know what you mean about those contest entries...I see yours and know "This is a winner!!)...but I'd like mine to be picked too!!! And then there are others...maybe somehow God will provide for all of us to make it. I have my brain working on alternative means of getting there. I'm sure God will provide if it is to be!

If you're obsessive email checker #1, I'm right behidn ya, if not in front. It's addictive.

Here are my thoughts - as long as you keep it in balance, it's fine. It could be a lot worse. You're not drinking, partying, and avoiding your family. If it gives your crazy spinning brain something to focus on in the two minutes you have between a carpool pickup and choir practice, it's fine.

It's all about choices.

Oh, and I didn't take your driving comment as chastising me, typo or not. It was a really good point. No joke. If I lived close to you, I'd make you be one of my 4 real friends that keeps me on my toes. But then we'd probably hate each other, because you'd be right and I'd be irked that Mama P can't play like she likes.

Though deep inside, I'm really very very conservative. Don't let me almost #1 sex and marriage blog on Good Housekeeping fool ya. I've got a great racket going. Shhh..... They might fire me if they think I'm a super nice person.

I enjoyed reading your quirks. I am with you on the list thing and the emails.

I am the world's slowest person at blowing up inflatables, so I'd like to see your superpower at work. Also interested in that loud whistle.

Thanks for the tag - I am working on my list and will post it in the morning.

PS- Sorry if your status counter says I was on your blog a LONG time. I have a bad habit of walking away from the computer and leaving people's blog pulled up. :o)

I haven't had time to internet lately so I just read this today!

1. I can so relate, as you read on my list.
2. that's not so freakish
3. I hate to admit that not ALL people like coffee. It completely baffles me.... (my husband is one)
4. that's hilarious!
5. I am the same. It's like I think I might miss something if I don't check it 50 times a day.
6. now THOSE are some sweet superpowers.

Number 5 is so me too! I check email countless times a day. There was a time when I couldn't function without a watch. Seriously I would have to buy a new one before I could do anything else (usually an inexpensive bracelet watch from walmart or target). But now with a cell phone attached to me (back pocket) at all times, I just look at that and have let the watches go.

I love learning these things about you!

1. I make lists for my lists. And I totally get the great pen, thing.

2. I can take pickles or leave them, mustard is yummy and I LOVE beans, though I don't eat them often because, well, you know.

3. No throwing from here. Just means more coffee for me.

4. Realizing some things are temporary are very liberating, isn't it? Still, sometimes that's a hard concept.

5. ME TOO! I just recently started wearing a watch again and I find I'm not checking it all the time. Email is another story. That's the downside of constant connectivity, I suppose.

6. Impressive. I can whistle very loudly (part of my Lake Perris story, actually) but I have to use my fingers. Wish I could do it without spitting all over my hands.

I will get to this AFTER the Lake P story. M'kay?
