A Verse a Day in June... starting now.

One of my alltimefavorite bloggers, Gretchen (from Good Enough for Now) entered her blog into the witness relocation program for its own protection and can now be found here. With her new blog, Gretchen has a new challenge for us, and I'm gonna play along. The challenge is this: post a verse on your blog every day in June... starting with whatever day you start on. I love this idea and you'll join us! If you do, please let me know so I can put you on the list of ppl to swing by and check out this month! Here's my first entry:

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17 (NLT)

Yesterday, I totally blew my lid at my son's new audiologist's office. The appointment service made me an appointment with the ENT in the same office, and they had no room for him with the actual audiologist, so they sent us away. I was so mad! I could feel the blood boiling, as my neck, then cheeks, then ears, then forehead got hot. Tears sprung to my eyes, my hands were shaking. I may have raised my voice a bit.

Here's why I am especially embarrassed by this behavior:
a) There was nothing these ladies could do, so I was yelling for no reason.
b) I totally ruined my witness. Would these women ever want to hear the gospel from ME?
c) I absolutely expect that people would be kind to me if positions were reversed.
d) the biggie.... would I have spoken to them like that if Jesus were in the room?

ugh. my prayer for the day is that I can just remember this verse... even when I am disappointed or frustrated or inconvenienced... or even if I am all three. Thanks, Gretchen, for the challenge. It's already making a difference!

Update: I left from writing this post to the dentist, where they totally messed up the appointment and we had to reschedule after waiting 45 minutes. I was inconvienienced, disappointed, AND frustrated for the second day in a ROW. I was also starving to death. Only this time, I remembered this verse, and behaved in a manner much more fitting of a Daughter of the King. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Fantastic idea...the verse each day. If this isn't what our blogging efforts should be for (encouraging each other)...well then...whatever. But really, encouraging one another with the Word is it! For your verse...I should plaster it over my cute little sign that says "Dear Lord...put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth." I feel your pain girl! Thank you Lord for your grace.

I love the verse a day...and I've been there with the sudden anger at frustrating events....Fortunately HE doesn't hold it against us. Thanks for the reminder!

Oh, great reminder....isn't it great how just "thinking on these things" can calm us down when we most need it? Sorry you had a frustrating day....but thanks for the encouragement!

That is a neat idea. You do one of my favorite blog things already by ending with a pertinent verse after your posts.

The thought of posting each day sounds intimidating, but maybe I'll give it a shot.

We are always learning, aren't we?!

I think I'll do the verse for the day thingy, too!!

Ah, don't be so hard on yourself. We are human after all. It's in catching ourselves that we improve, and you're doing that. Sorry about the irritations. With time as precious as it is for you with work and kids, I can only imagine how maddening it was.

Oh, my goodness. I've been there, girlfriend. Look what God did! He gave you another chance. Love that. xxxooogretchen.

P.S. It's the rule, not the exception that I'm going for in raising my kids. We all blow it from time to time. That's not generally what they see each day though. Forgive yourself.

"Thy word have i hid in my heart, so that I might not sin against thee." I memorized that as a child and WHEN I actually do recall His Word at those very trying moments, it makes a huge difference! Thanks for sharing- it always makes me feel better to hear of others messing up.

I have it under good athority that you made that cute button! You are so good.

I so need to memorize this one! I am good at not blowing it in public, but I loose it all the time in private with my kids - which is probably much worse. I loved the part about remembering if Jesus were in the room would I act that way. Thanks for the reminder.

I love this verse a day. I am just now catching up on blogs. I am guilty of losing it too. It usually happens when it has to do with one of my children or grandson. I get pretty upset when one of them is wronged...Jesus must get upset too, when we are unjustly accused.
