switching gears.

He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Philippians 3:21

This morning I played around with the gears a bit on my bike, which made my daily trip around the lake really, really hard. When I got home, my legs were wobbly and I was panting like I used to when I first started this crazy morning routine. I kept wanting to slip back into the easier gear so badly, as I was struggling up the teensy little inclines, wondering why on earth I thought I chose to switch gears in the first place. Then I remember how frustrated I have been that I haven't lost even one pound in weeks, and that changing things up is the only way to push some change.

I realized that this is the way I live my life. I want so much to do only the things that I am comfortable doing, and when there is the slight resistance, I want to slip back into my old routines. No struggle, no risk, no pain. However, I know that if I want to grow as a Christian, I can't just do things that I know how to do, that I feel safe doing, that I've always done. I have to take chances, I have to switch gears, I have to switch it up. There's only one way to do that...

Father God,
I ask that you show me the areas where you'd like to make change in my life.
Don't let me resist You, don't let me allow fear of discomfort to limit You.
Instead, I hand the gears over to You right now. I'm releasing the brakes.
I can't wait to see what You have planned.
I want to grow into the girl You created me to be.
In Your Matchless Name,

I'm ALWAYS having to switch gears, and my lack of glut. muscles shows that I'm not that great at it. :)

SOooo true!

I don't even get as far as riding the bike. I sit on the seat, deem it uncomfortable, and park it again.

I need to get on the bike and GO.
